Welcome to the Steele Hill Youth Sports Organization

About Us

Established in 1947, the Steele Hill Youth Sports Organization solidified its foundation in our area through the dedicated time and actions of Phillipsburg residents, Robert Paulus and Robert Richards.

Both men, armed with only a vision and a front-end loader, carved out a baseball field for a group of young children from the Steel and Hill Street sections of town that made up the Steele Hill Baseball Team.

This field, which still stands today behind Hill Street, remained home to the Steel Hill Youth Sports Organization until later in the year when a new field was acquired behind, which is now known as Green Street School.

Shortly thereafter, borrowing used football uniforms from another team in Stewartsville, NJ…the Steele Hill Youth Sports Organization, under the direction of Athletic Director, “Tootie” Ritz, formed its very first football team and proudly adopted the team name of “The Bulldogs”.

Today, 65 years later, the Steele Hill Bulldogs are running strong and are still taking pride in teaching the youth of Phillipsburg the importance of sportsmanship, the athletic fundamentals of the sport of their choice, and how the art of teamwork can assist them in achieving their goals both athletically and personally thus better preparing them for the years ahead.

The countless volunteers and families that make up this great sports organization invite you to join us and become part of the Steele Hill Family.
